“—Truly, Sir, I do not desire to commend myself, but to think meanly of myself; yet when I do most despise myself, taking notice of that small measure of light which God hath given me, also that the people of the Lord, by their own saying, are edified thereby. Besides, when I see that the Lord, through grace, hath in some measure blessed my labor, I dare not but exercise that gift which God hath given me for the good of the people. And I said further, that I would willingly speak in public, if I might.” —John Bunyan.
On June 3rd 2008 the people of Menifee, Sun City,
In brief, my candidacy has been inspired on three foundational principals:
Families are the cornerstone and future of our community. As your councilman I will stand against the over-development and rezoning of our city. We have experienced long lines of traffic, overcrowding, and crime in our neighborhoods. This has been to a large degree the result of poor planning and irresponsible development. Our families have suffered enough, it’s time to return to low density development.
Faith in God is the foundation of our society, many in our community share a strong faith in God. My first act as your city councilman will be to display our nation’s Motto “In God We Trust” during council meetings and eventually at city hall.
Freedom is keeping our property taxes low, city government small, and using commonsense solutions to our problems. I will never support property tax increases, this can be avoided by proper planning and placement of commercial and industrial centers by our freeway and frontage roads. Many of these areas are being over developed into high-density residential dwellings which potentially put a burden upon our community. Our once small rural community could be on the precipice of fiscal insolvency. We must act soon before further irreparable harm is done.
In closing, I would like to thank you for your encouragement and support of our candidacy. This has been one of the most humbling experiences in my life. With nineteen candidates running in this race, many of them well financed, we will need your help. First (and most important), I would like to ask if you would pray daily for my family and I. This campaign will likely take its toll in many different ways, and we need God’s strength. Second, would you consider making a personal endorsement of our platform and campaign? Your name would likely be added to a growing list of supporters and placed on one of our flyers being distributed locally door to door. Third, (last and least) if you would like to make a small donation to help pay for yard signs, flyers, and envelopes, let us know via mail, e-mail, or by phone so we can facilitate your generous contribution.
May God bless you and your family,
Jason Reeves
